Communion
Anyone seeking a relationship with Christ is invited to share in the rite of Holy Eucharist. We receive Holy Communion while kneeling at the altar rail. Ushers will notify each participant of the proper time to approach the rail. Bread (usually wafers) is distributed to your open palm and wine is served from a community chalice. It is customary to assist the chalice bearer by raising the cup to your lips. Some may wish to dip the bread into the wine (intinct) instead of drinking directly from the chalice. Dipping the bread is a matter of preference and is appropriate. Children not receiving Holy Communion may cross their arms and receive a blessing instead. After receiving Holy Communion, worshipers generally return to their seats and engage in silent prayer or in the singing of hymns.
