Parishes Around the Diocese Support Nets for Life
--Nick Moga
Diocesan Episcopal Relief and Development Coordinator

The Nets for Life campaign in our diocese kicked off at January's Annual Council, led by our Youth@Council.

The diocese has a goal of raising funds for one net ($12) per parishioner.

Several parishes have completed their goal:

St. Andrew's, Clifton Forge; Emmanuel, Covington; and St. Peter's, Altavista.

Good Shepherd, Galax, along with St. James, Roanoke, and
Trinity, Lynchburg, are over 50% of the way toward completing the goal.

All Saints, Norton, held a Gahanian dinner and raised $900.

Parishioners at Christ, Big Stone Gap, supported the event and are planning more activities.

Grace, Lynchburg, has completed their Nets for life campaign by raising $1236.00. This was three nets over their goal. Nets were purchased out of donations made during coffee hour, inspired by a hallway full of mosquitoes made from craft supplies. When one
net was purchased, a mosquito was moved from the wall to behind a net. The youth "earned" nets by doing community service projects. One parishioner led a yoga class at the church with a basket for donations that all went to Nets for Life. Great job, Grace
Memorial!

The diocesan MDG Committee has matching grant money to help parishes reach their goal.

Wonderful work is being done all around the diocese. Let our Episcopal Relief and Development Coordinator, Nick Moga, know how your efforts are going by sending an email to nickmoga@aol.com.
